The Town of Dennis announced Oct. 15 an updated schedule for ongoing wastewater construction work affecting several roads, with police details and signage in place to help residents and motorists navigate the area.

Three contractors are working on different sections of the project. RJV Construction Corporation began Contract No. 4 in late June 2025, Robert B. Our Company, Inc. started Contract No. 2 in early July 2025, and Dig It Construction LLC began Contract No. 3 in mid-July 2025.

For the week of Oct. 19 to Oct. 23, Contract No. 2 work includes a traveling work zone with one lane alternating traffic on South Gages Way and New Venture Drive, completion of sewer work on Main Street between the Cape Cod Rail Trail and Highbank Road, and the start of work on Old Dennis Approach. Contract No. 3 work continues on Route 28 from Trotting Park Road toward Buccaneer Road. There is no scheduled work for Contract No. 4 this week.

Looking ahead to Oct. 26 through Oct. 30, Contract No. 2 will see a traveling work zone on Main Street near Market Place and continued work on Old Dennis Approach. Contract No. 3 work on Route 28 toward Buccaneer Road is expected to be completed, and Contract No. 4 work on Route 28 from Allian Way to Alburmar Road is also expected to finish.

For Nov. 2 through Nov. 6, Contract No. 2 work continues on Old Dennis Approach, Contract No. 3 work begins on Route 28 toward Route 134, and Contract No. 4 work is set to start on Route 28 near Uncle Barney's Road and on several side streets including Woodbine Lane, Cove Road and Waterside Drive.

All three contracts involve local-traffic-only detours in work zones, with police details and signage assisting residents. The town said roads will remain passable at the end of each work day, and crews will work with residents and businesses to address access needs. Normal work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

Separately, work has started at a future recharge site known as Site 2, located at the corner of Old Bass River Road and Bob Crowell Road. The town's Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan requires a second recharge site for treated effluent from the new Water Resource Recovery Facility on Theophilus Smith Road, due to state Department of Environmental Protection permitting limitations. Site clearing at Site 2 is complete, and design requirements are still being determined.

The town noted that the schedule is projected and may be adjusted based on contractor progress and weather. More information is available on the town's Wastewater page.
