Zoning Bylaw Study Committee revises charge, maps four substantive work streams.
Zoning Bylaw Study Committee · Meeting of May 21, 2026
DENNIS — The Dennis Zoning Bylaw Study Committee approved revisions to its formal charge and heard Town Planner Paul Foley outline four priority work streams, including revisions to Section 4.9 of the bylaw, review of definitions and allowable uses in the GC-II and GC-III commercial zones, rezoning of Patriot's Square properties currently in industrial and GC-III zones, and zoning changes required by the town's acceptance of the Seasonal Communities designation. Committee member Connie Bechard stressed the need for habitability standards in the zoning code, while Bill Clark called for water-availability standards and suggested consideration of a building moratorium pending water-capacity clarification. Foley will create a webpage for Seasonal Communities work and is awaiting a list of undeveloped 10,000-square-foot lots by location.
A joint meeting with the Planning Board is scheduled for June 15; the committee's next regular meeting is June 18.
