Dennis Select Board advances West Dennis Beach building project framework and Wixon School evaluation. The Board unanimously approved a $6.21 million total cost estimate for the West Dennis Beach facility, which includes $4.93 million in construction, with bidding expected in February or March 2027 ahead of May Annual Town Meeting. The Board also unanimously appointed Select Board member Jim Plath and resident volunteer Cleon Turner to form a two-person working group to assess the viability of retaining the gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, and adjacent classrooms at Wixon School, with findings due within 30 to 40 days.
The Board additionally approved three special town meeting articles, appointed four individuals to town positions including Deputy Harbormaster Brendan Hackenson and Deputy Plumbing Inspector Douglas Hawthorne, and authorized multiple special capital articles to remain open.
