Historical Commission · Meeting of March 9, 2026
DENNIS — Historical Commission backs Cape Cinema restoration and Carleton Hall registry push. The seven-member commission unanimously approved support for the Cape Cinema's exterior stabilization project, which includes an application for a Community Preservation Grant, after Nora Carey, Cape Playhouse Executive Director, presented restoration plans. Commissioners also voted unanimously to request that the Select Board authorize the commission to initiate a National Register of Historic Places certification process for Carleton Hall, 1006 Old Bass River Road, a structure already designated as significant by the Massachusetts Historical Commission.
The commission also cleared two demolition applications without initiating the Dennis Demolition Delay Bylaw while leaving three properties under further review.
