Dennis Select Board backs $4.3 million in capital projects; postpones Wixon School vote

Dennis Select Board approves five Community Preservation agreements totaling $4.3 million. Chair Chris Lambton and members Paul McCormick, Carlyn Carey, and Jim Plath voted unanimously to fund Chapman Baseball Field restoration at Wixon Middle School, Cape Cinema preservation, Cultural Center of Cape Cod historic entrance restoration, and Dennis Affordable Housing Trust projects, along with a Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox Player Safety Project grant. The Board also authorized $2.6 million in capital outlay and $1.7 million in other-funded capital projects.
The Board voted 4-1 to support converting the elected Town Clerk position to appointed status, with Plath opposed, while postponing a $4 million Wixon School hazardous material abatement article pending additional cost review.
