Dennis Select Board approves $1.7M operating budget override for FY27

Dennis Select Board approves three ballot overrides totaling $2.1 million to cover FY27 structural deficit. Town Administrator Elizabeth Sullivan reported the General Fund faces a $768,454 shortfall driven by inflation, collective bargaining, and escalating school assessments--DY Regional jumped 4.22% to $22,026,895 and Cape Cod Tech rose 5.3% to $2,175,235. The board unanimously voted to place a $1,707,803 General Fund operating override and separate overrides for DY Regional ($348,050) and Cape Cod Tech ($44,147) on the May 12 annual town election ballot.
Board members also approved FY26 budget supplements of $1,586,458, renewed 30 seasonal liquor and entertainment licenses, reappointed 32 committee members, and voted to place 28 town meeting articles, including capital projects totaling $1.5 million in transfers across stabilization and improvement funds.
