Dennis Library Sets Candidate Forum Ahead Of September Primary

DENNIS — Dennis Public Library will host a candidate forum on August 18, giving residents a direct look at contenders ahead of the state primary set for September 1. The forum anchors an otherwise library- and community-driven stretch of days, with author visits, wellness checks and a Select Board office hour all on the calendar this week.

Dennis Public Library will hold a candidate forum on Tuesday, August 18, at noon, offering residents a chance to hear directly from primary candidates before the September 1 vote.

The library also welcomes author Diane Rochelle for a "Meet the Author" event on Thursday, August 20, at 5 p.m. Later in the month, the library turns to Cape Cod's whaling past with "A Day in the Life of the Lagoda," a program set for August 27 at 6 p.m.

COMING UP

Dennis Public Library has a full slate over the next week: Blood Pressure and Wellness Checks on Wednesday, August 19, at 11:15 a.m., followed by the DPL Book Club at 2 p.m. the same day. A Play, Storytime and Craft session for young children is set for Thursday, August 20, at 10:30 a.m., and the library hosts an Ice Cream Social on Friday, August 21, at 11 a.m.

Select Board members will hold drop-in office hours at the library on Saturday, August 22, at 10 a.m. On the municipal side, the Dennis Affordable Housing Trust and the Assembly of Delegates Standing Committee on Finance are both scheduled to meet Monday, August 17, with the Council on Aging meeting the following day, Tuesday, August 18.
