Dennis Finance Committee approves fifteen FY27 departmental budgets in single meeting. Chair Carl Monroe and committee members voted on departmental requests totaling $27.9 million, including Police at $8,214,358, Fire at $7,390,339, and DPW Highway at $2,964,277. Most budgets were level-funded except for contractual obligations; Fire Chief Chris Guerreiro highlighted a 56.2 percent increase in Barnstable County dispatch services due to additional hiring of six telecommunicators and expanded coverage to three new departments.
Pat Stone cast the sole dissenting vote against DPW Highway over concerns about seasonal wage line items; all other votes passed unanimously. The Harbormaster budget was deferred to the February 23 meeting.
