Dennis Conservation Commission approves septic, bulkhead, dwelling projects

Conservation Commission · Meeting of May 21, 2026

Dennis Conservation Commission approves coastal and wetland projects amid enforcement sweep. The board unanimously approved a bulkhead reconstruction at 3 Port Way, West Dennis, and a raze-and-replace dwelling with innovative septic upgrade at 250 New Boston Road, both with Wetlands Bylaw variances allowing work within the 50-foot buffer. A third project--a septic system upgrade at 10 North Road, West Dennis--received positive and negative determinations.

In enforcement matters, the Commission advanced action against three East Dennis properties at 7 Bayberry Road, 15 Bayberry Road, and 57 Steven Phillips Road, where approximately 12 trees were removed and 2 severely pruned within regulated wetland buffer zones; the board authorized issuance of enforcement orders and citations. A fourth enforcement case at 143 Fisk Street resulted in a $300 citation and restoration plan requirement after owners mowed a path through protected phragmites following a denied project application.
