Dennis Select Board approves Phase 1 wastewater rates and fees. Acting as Sewer Commission, the Board unanimously accepted a tiered user rate structure with a $40 quarterly base charge and usage fees, projecting typical annual costs of $778 at 16,000-gallon quarterly consumption. Flow allocation fees were also approved: $1,500 per dwelling unit for existing residential properties; $10,000 per bedroom for new residential construction after February 1, 2028; and 2.5 percent of building assessed value for existing commercial/industrial properties.
Consultant Marc Drainville of GHD noted Phase 1 users would realize $1,450 to $1,650 in annual savings compared to alternative cost structures, as the Town subsidizes rates and foregoes betterments. The Board separately heard that a proposed amendment to the fee limitation bylaw is under separate discussion to address sewer rate fee exemptions.
