Conservation Commission approves yacht club bulkhead redesign; issues determinations on park project.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of March 19, 2026

Dennis Conservation Commission votes on bulkhead, park, and emergency drainage projects. The Commission approved a revised bulkhead replacement at West Dennis Yacht Club by 5–1 vote, with the applicant shifting approximately 36 feet of the structure landward and committing to a 2:1 mitigation ratio for 29 square feet of new impacts. Commissioner Hulst opposed, citing private-benefit concerns.

The Commission unanimously issued positive wetlands determinations for the Town's 187 Upper County Road park project, which will remove 5,200 square feet of impervious surface from the former church parking lot and restore it with native plantings and walking trails. In emergency action, the Commission unanimously authorized drainage ditch clearing on Bakers Way to address flooding from recent severe weather; the Town must remove all excavated sand off-site and complete work by March 31 to protect plover nesting habitat.
