Dennis Substance Use Disorder Advisory Council allocates $8,000 to sober living scholarships. The council, chaired by Lynn Carlson, unanimously approved the funding for ROAR in support of individuals in recovery programs. The meeting, held at Dennis Police Department with eight members present, also featured an educational discussion on kratom, a retail substance with opioid-like effects when commercially concentrated.
A guest panel including APRN Rose Lavender recommended restricting kratom sales to those 21 and older, requiring independent lab verification of contents, and establishing vendor inspection protocols. The council plans to maintain a presence at National Night Out on August 4.
